Also, and perhaps the greatest given example of all is the believer in Christ, Born-Again Believers are given the privilege of being "heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ."

As we look to Christ as the Creator of all things, we certainly should look at that which some believe to be the greatest creation of all, man!

Of course when we look at man presently, one is hard put to understand such a statement as man being the greatest creation; however for the creation of man to be properly understood, one must go back to Adam before the fall.

We do know that God gave into the hands of Adam, dominion over all His creation, which within itself speaks volumes.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Psalms 8:3-9 KJV

Incidently, in the Passage in Psalms eight verse five, where it says, "For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour," it should have been translated, "For Thou hast made him a little lower than God." 

You see, the Hebrew word for angels here is "Elohim" and is so translated in the Bible 239 times. So from this, we ascertain that God originally made man higher even than the Angelic creation.

As we all know, man was created in the Image of God, which it is not actually said of Angels. 

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

Genesis 1:26-27 KJV

Also at the time of creation, it was originally intended that man and woman, given the power of procreation, were intended to bring sons and daughters of God into the world. But due to the Fall, they have been able to only bring forth sons and daughters in the likeness of Adam into the world. Angels do not have such power.

"And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:"

Genesis 5:3 KJV

"which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God."

Luke 3:38 KJV

Perhaps the greatest given example of all is the believer in Christ, Born-Again Believers are given the privilege of being "heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ."

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." 

Romans 8:17 KJV

These examples put together, and above all the last example given, I personally feel proclaims the fact that man is the highest creation of God. He is now being restored to that rightful place by Redemption, which will culminate with the Resurrection.

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,"

"in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

"For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."

"So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."

"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"

"The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law."

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

1 Corinthians 15: 51-57 KJV

And my last conclusion why man is the greatest Creation of God. Man was considered of such worth by The Almighty, that He would literally become man, and die on a cruel Cross in order that man might be saved. There is no record that such was done as it regards the fallen Angels.

There is an impassable chasm between brute and man, between the highest form of animal and the lowest form of human life. No animal exists which uses tools, makes fire, employs articulate speech, or has the capabilities for knowing spiritual things. 

However all these are present in the lowest forms of life, if we may be allowed to use such terminology. The most intelligent ape is only an animal; and the most degraded specimen of mankind is certainly a human.

Evolutionists have imagined a type of creature through which the ape passed into the human stage. This is the so-called "Missing Link," which has been named "Pithecanthropus Erectus." This is the highest insult to human intelligence.

Some years ago a few bones, two teeth, one thigh bone and a part of a skull cap were discovered on the island of Java. So with the addition of plaster of Paris the scientists reconstructed the "so-called link" which they believe connects Created Man with a lower form of life or lower creation.

THE GOD GIVEN NATURE OF MAN

According to Genesis 2:7 man is composed of two substances, the material substance, called his body, and the immaterial substance, called his soul. The soul gives life to his body, and when his soul is withdrawn the body dies.

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

Genesis 2:7 KJV

But, and this is a big BUT, according to 1 Thessalonians 5:23 and Hebrews 4:12 man is composed of three substances, Spirit, Body and Soul and this is one of the many reasons why we call our conferences this way. Let's look at the Scriptures.

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Hebrews 4: 12 KJV

Both views are correct when properly understood. Spirit and soul represent two sides of man's nonphysical substance; or, to state it in other words, spirit and soul represent two modes in which the spiritual nature operates.

Although separate, spirit and soul are not separable. They permeate and interpenetrate each other. Because they are so closely connected, the words, "spirit" and "soul" are often used interchangeable, so that in one place man's spiritual substance is described as "soul," and in another place is as "spirit."

Here Are Some Examples:

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJV

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 

Revelation 6:9 KJV

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 

Matthew 10:28 KJV

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. 

James 2: 26 KJV

Though often used interchangeably, the terms spirit and soul have distinct meanings.

Example Of The SOUL:

"SOUL" is man viewed in relation to this present life. Deceased persons are described as "souls" when a writer is referring back to their previous life.

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 

Revelation 6:9 KJV

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Revelation 20:4 KJV

Example Of The SPIRIT:

"SPIRIT" is the common description for those who have passed into the other life.

And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Luke 23:46 KJV

And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

Acts 23: 9 KJV

And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 

Acts 7: 59 KJV

to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 

Hebrews 12: 23 KJV

In the case of 1 Peter 3: 19, spirits here is referring to fallen angels and not human. Spirits is almost always refereed to saved man. In this case, christ went to Sheol, Hades to show the fallen Angels that they could not stop his coming to earth.

by which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

1 Peter 3: 19 KJV

When a person is "caught up" temporarily out of the body, they are described as being "in the spirit". 

I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

2 Corinthians 12:2 KJV

And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 

Revelation 4:2 KJV

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Revelation 17:3 KJV

Because man has a "spirit," he is capable of God consciousness, and of communion with God; because he has a "soul", he has self consciousness; and because he has a "body", he has through his senses world consciousness.

In other words, with his body, man corresponds with the world, with his soul, man corresponds with self; and with his spirit, man corresponds with God.
