Rapture
Ready?
The
word rapture comes from the Greek word meaning "caught up." The
Rapture is nothing else than the Feast of Trumpets or as it is called in
Hebrew, the Feast of Rosh-Hashana being fulfilled. During the fullfillment
of this feast, the Lord will be retrieving His followers as described in
John
14:3 KJV
"And
if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you
unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
In a wonderful
and glorious way, an Archangel will shout announcing the catching away
of the saints. Those Christians who have died from the day that the LORD
rose and conquered the grave onward and received His most Holy Spirit will
rise first. They are the "dead In Christ".
Then we who
are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the
LORD in the air. So shall we ever be with the LORD as described in 1 Thessalonians
4: 16 by the apostle Paul.
Jesus appears
to the disciples behind locked doors on the same at evening when He resurrected
from the grave and gave the Holy Ghost to His disciples. When they received
Him (the Holy Ghost) they were born again, not before and
certainly not after. Only when the Lord gave them the Holy Ghost.
So the disciples
were really born again of His Spirit not on Pentecost which was
fulfilled fifty days later but on the third day when the Lord resurrected
and conquered the grave. Yes, that is when they were born again, on the
third day of His resurrection and not on Pentecost.
One is born
again at the moment one receives His Spirit and that is called the moment
of salvation in our lives. The moment of salvation for His disciples was
on the third day after His resurrection when He appeared to them behind
closed doors and He breathed on them the Holy Ghost. Let's read it ourselves.
"Then
the same day at evening, (same day meaning, the same day when He
was put on the cross) being the first day of the week, when the
doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews,
came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace
be unto you.
And when
he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the
disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
Then said
Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as
my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
And when
he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive
ye the Holy Ghost:
whose soever
sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain,
they are retained."
John
20: 19-23 KJV
Now, there is something
that needs to be made very clear. On the day of Pentecost, fifty days after
the Lord had resurrected, the disciples received the promised of The
Baptism of His most Holy Spirit. The Lord Himself gave them that promised
in Acts chapter one.
"and,
being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not
depart from Jerusalem, but wait for
the promise of the Father, which, saith he,
ye
have heard of me.
For John
truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost
not many days hence."
Acts
1: 4-5 KJV
So the baptism
of the Holy Spirit that the disciples experienced on the day of Pentecost,
fifty days after His resurrection, is not the same experience they had
with the Lord when He breathed on them the Holy Ghost on the third day
after He resurrected and conquered the grave.
So when the
Scriptures talk about the LORD descending from heaven with a SHOUT and
the voice of an archangel, coming for the dead in Christ and those who
remain, the Scriptures are referring to those who received the Holy Ghost
from the day the LORD resurrected from the grave. Let's read it together
in the letter to the Thessalonians written by the apostle Paul.
"For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first:"
"then we
which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
1
Thessalonians 4: 16-18 KJV
Here the teaching
of being caught up with Him is repeated: the Christians or believers in
Jesus Christ, the Jewish Messiah who have died will return to heaven with
Christ when he returns for them.
Disembodied
souls are not spoken of; only Christians or the dead in Christ. The original
Greek reference is to sleeping bodies who died in Christ awaking and returning
to Jesus. The facts of Christ's experience are repeated. He died and then
rose: so believers and believers only shall die and rise with him. The
rest of humanity, both dead and alive, will remain to be judged to an eternity
without Christ at a later date.
We, which are
alive, and remain shall be caught up together with them, the dead in Christ.
The living Christians will join the deceased Christians now resurrected
in a corporate rapture to meet the Lord in the air.
Both groups
of Christians will have had their bodies glorified just prior to the rapture
in the clouds, or as the Greek elegantly puts it, “in clouds.” Please
see 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Philippians 3:20-21 below.
Christ was taken
in a cloud at his ascension, "And when he had spoken these things, while
they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight."
Acts
1:9 KJV
He will
return the same way, "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall
see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth
shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen."
Revelation
1:7 KJV
The clouds
are spoken of as God's chariots in Psalms 104:3 and Daniel 7:13. So when
Scripture says in the air refers to being caught up into the region
just above the earth, where the meeting shall take place between them ascending
and their Lord descending toward the earth.
"Then
shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their
lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
And five of
them were wise, and five were foolish.
They that were
foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: but the wise took
oil in their vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom
tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
And at midnight
there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet
him."
Matthew
25:1- 6 KJV
"And so shall
we ever be with the Lord"
This is a general
statement describing the believers’ eternal privilege of having unbroken,
everlasting fellowship with their Lord Jesus Christ.
And
I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God
is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people,
and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall
wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the
former things are passed away.
Revelation
21:3-4 KJV
And there
shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be
in it; and his servants shall serve him: and they shall see his face; and
his name shall be in their foreheads.
Revelation
22:3- 4 KJV
The reason
why the apostle Paul did not go over the other events foretold for the
end times such as the reign of Jesus Christ on the earth and the final
judgment taught by him and described to the church in Corinth, is because
these subjects were not really relevant to his discussion to the Thessalonians.
I will include the Scriptures here for your benefit and study.
Do
ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall
be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
Know ye not
that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
1
Corinthians 6:2-3 KJV
He did however
teach the church in Corinth that those who were alive on the earth at the
time of the Lord's catching away of the church will be changed in a moment,
in the the twinkling of an eye.
Behold,
I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet
shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be
changed.
For this corruptible
must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1
Corinthians 15: 51-52 KJV
For our conversation
is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus
Christ:
who shall change
our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according
to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Philippians
3:20-21 KJV
So then all will
be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air, both the dead in
Christ who have been born again since He resurrected from the grave
on the third day and those who remain alive on the earth at the time when
He returns for His bride.
For
the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching
us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world;
looking
for that blessed hope,
(The Rapture) and the glorious appearing of the great God and our
Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us
from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of
good works.
These things
speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority.
Let no man
despise thee.
Titus
2:13-15 KJV
When the apostle
Paul refers to the Blessed Hope or "HOPE" here in Titus, he does not mean
a nice thing that we might suspect hope might happen in the
near future. But rather this is a certified fact of the very near future
promised and guaranteed by GOD Himself.
It is God's
unfailing WORD that gives us the promised of this Blessed Hope. In this
case, HOPE used in Titus by the apostle Paul means a present confident
expectations.
Even the atheist,
satanists and unbelievers know for a fact that this even surely will take
place. If they know it and can't wait for Christians to be removed from
earth, how much more us who are waiting for the glorious appearing of our
God and Saviour.
This confident
expectation of the blessed hope is what has kept believers around the world
for centuries. God is not a man that He should lie and when Jesus Christ
promised to His disciples that He will return for His Church in John 14,
we can rest assured that He will return for His own.
It is this blessed
hope that has sustained the Body of Messiah and keept us sustainedf
even till today.
As we see world
conditions aligning themselves for the Rapture and the ruling of the Anti
Christ, we need to keep looking up to heaven. There is where our salvation
and our hope lies.
