What Is Prayer?

"Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them."
Hebrews 7:25 KJV
The Word of God is the seed that we plant daily in our hearts and in the hearts of others and it is watered by prayer.

As we plant seeds of life in the heart of others, we are guaranteed in due time that we will reap a righteous harvest.

When you address yourself in prayer to the One who Created you, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and you bring it to a standstill for a split second and connect with Him; when you recognize and accept Him; when you show gratitude to Him; or appreciate and be thankful for Him in the course of that prayer, its purpose will have been fulfilled.

All of us desire to bond with someone who can recognize our state of affairs and share in our every day to day life.

We long for some comfort to help us make sense of situations when things are not marching the way they should. Prayer is just that.

Prayer is a very personal, private and intimate experience connection with our loving Heavenly Father.

Although people often say prayers in public, this is not an open to the public experience. We can share the results, the experience is a different situation.
It is my most sincere desire that "The Providence of Prayer" will assist you to get to the Holy of Holies.

There you will receive practical advice that will help you develop the moment by moment prayer life that God desires for you to experience while on the earth. That is my prayer and my desire from the deepest part of of my heart.

Text declares in 1 John 5:14-15 that,
". . .this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him."
Prayer is the greatest commodity a believer can own. Prayer is the highest form of human speech a believer can have in his life. Prayer is the supreme tool used by millions of believers in the world because it opens the gates of Heaven. Prayer opens you up to a conversation with the God of Creation.
To pray is to be acquainted with to whom you are having a verbal communication, rather than the structure it takes. Prayer means that one is occupied; you are busy in an exchange of ideas with the God that created the universes and holds them in the palm of His hand.
Prayer means that you are launching a dialogue with the One Who created you, the One who said that; "He will never leave you nor forsake you."

Prayer is reestablishing that relationship within your mind, within your heart [which is your human spirit,] and giving yourself the prospect to have a more in depth understanding with the infinite Source that calls Himself the Almighty God, Creator of everything that is.

Prayer is not repeating the same thing over and over again, thinking that we might get a hearing. Prayer is a heartfelt conversation with our God the Creator.
Prayer is the opportunity to rise above, yes, higher above the world in any given moment and bond with what is really True and Real. When one chooses prayer, one is choosing to step aside from all that seems to be happening and seek a relationship with their heavenly Father.
*** When you address yourself in prayer to the One who Created you, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and you bring it to a standstill for a split second and connect with Him, when you recognize and accept Him, when you show gratitude to Him, or appreciate and be thankful for Him in the course of that prayer, its purpose will have been fulfilled.
If you say a prayer with no acknowledge of God or relating with God in various ways, then the purpose of the prayer is not fulfilled.

It does not matter what is prayed for and it does not matter what the end result of the particular appeal is because the function of the prayer is to connect with God, to remember Truth, to overcome the mountain in that moment.

This is not necessarily acknowledged or understood in the moment, but by asking something of the One whom you've never seen and have no natural proof of, just by that act, you are overcoming the world.

So, Why Doesn't God Answer Everyone's Prayers?

Could it be because they simply don't have a relationship with God? They may know that God exists, and they might even think that they worship God. They may even do it from time to time but those who never seem to have their prayers answered probably don't have a relationship with him any more than most people have a relationship with an ant.

Furthermore, they have never received Him as their Lord and Saviour, making them eligible to receive from God complete forgiveness for sin.

What does that have to do with it you ask?
Here is an explanation.

“Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
Isaiah 59:1,2 KJV
It's pretty natural to feel that there is a separation from God. When people begin to ask God for something, what usually takes place? Well they begin with;
"God, I really need your help with this problem..." And then there's a pause, followed by a restart... "I realize that I'm not a perfect person, that I actually have no right to ask you for this...
There is always a consciousness of personal sin and failure. The person doing the prayer knows that it's not just them; that God also is very much aware of it too.

There's a feeling of, "Who am I kidding?" What they may not know is how they can receive God's forgiveness for all their sin right there and then.

They might not know that they can come into a relationship, a liaison with God so that God will hear their prayers. This is the foundation for God answering ALL your prayers.

We find that in John Chapter 15 the Lord taught His disciples the following. . .

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husband man.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

John 15:1-17 KJV
What is the best time to pray? TIME TO PRAY
Acts 3:1 Declares that the Jews had set times of prayer, but the clear teaching (and example) of the New Testament is that believers are to be in a spirit of prayerfulness at all times. Our lives should be one long running conversation with the Father.
Scriptures
Command
Romans 1:9-10
“Day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God.”
Ephesians 6:18
“Pray at all times and on every occasion.
Be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere.”
Colossians 1:3
“We always pray for you.”
1 Thessalonians 1:2
“We . . . pray for you constantly.”
1 Thessalonians 2:13
“We will never stop thanking God.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17
“Keep on praying.”
2 Timothy 1:3
“Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.”
If you utter a prayer for the simple reason that you think you should, or because it is the correct thing to do, or because it couldn't harm or hurt anyone saying that prayer, or out of duty, guilt or accountability, again the prayer does not accomplish its purpose.

A prayer can be as plain as “Hi, God” or “Thank You, God” or it can be an never ending conversation about anything you want to share with God.

Prayer does not need to take place in a physical church either as some do think, but it needs to take place in the place of worship within you.

This takes place in your every day life when you are walking down the street, driving in your car, or shopping in a store, it takes place as you begin to have the desire to say hello to God, thank God, or ask for something in as cheerful and casual a way or as serious a way as you feel called to do, it is all the same.
Countless of believers know that God is Holy and sits majestically on His throne as King of kings and Lord of lords. This makes them feel that they must be serious and reverent in their prayers with God, and yet that is unnecessary.

Although you must absolutely know that you are approaching The Creator of heaven and earth, and that He is GOD, you must also understand that He did every thing possible to establish this relationship with you.

He wants to have a relationship with you regardless of the cost. He has already paid the price for this relationship.
Remembering God in a happy moment as well as a challenging moment is a wonderful blessing for everyone, and to connect with God in whatever place you are or situation that you find in your life is always welcome.
"Prayer is necessary; it is a must; it is a necessity in order for you to understand the process of hearing God's Voice.

It is not necessary for you to get on your knees and pray the rosary [as some do] this many times a day in these particular ways and then you will someday hear God. Yeshua specifically told His disciples that repetitious prayer will not get you a hearing from The Father.

Prayer is what opens the channel of communication with the Creator. One person has to establish dialogue and begin to talk for another person to respond back.
It does not matter who talks first or what is said, where, how, or anything else, though as long as two people sit without a sound, no conversation will ever occur. It is the same with prayer.
It could be said that God talks to you at all times, we learn this from Scripture. Somehow at some point in your life you acknowledge that He does and suddenly you begin to talk back. This is what we call prayer. Now you begin to hear God more distinctively because you are now engaged in the conversation.

Once you start a conversation with the God that created the Heavens and the earth through prayer, whatever that looks like, the relationship with the One that calls Himself the Almighty begins. This journey of an eternal revelation begins with a simple "Hello."
