Why
Are We So Angry?
"Be ye angry,
and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place
to the devil. "
Ephesians
4: 26, 27 KJV
EDMUND DESOTO
In
my times of prayer and meditation my spirit gets heavy for my family, my
loved ones, for the church and for myself. I am truly concerned for the
anger that is being displayed in so many, especially those within the Body
of Christ.
As I bring
the subject of anger up to others, who like me are concerned as well, they
may argue and say, well "look at our children, our schools, our government,
look at our churches, look at the entertainment industry, we should be
mad we are angry." To a degree they are right, but these situations
can be used as an excused in order to display your favorite attribute,
anger.
Oh yes, I agree,
I myself am angry at times these institutions for making a mess of things,
however there is a fine line between being angry in the Spirit of God and
being angry in the flesh. Having holy anger and anger manifested in the
flesh are two separate things and both should really be examined.
The apostle
Paul declares in the book of Ephesians 4:
26,27 that we can be "angry, and sin not:"
we are not to "let the sun go down upon (our) wrath: neither
(are we to) give place to the devil."
As I look back
to my childhood years, it's hard to remember a time when there were more
people, more angry than now. I agree that a civilized person ought to be
civil, first of all, yet, today people have lost the art of discoursing
with one another. I am talking from experienced. I have never been more
insulted, looked down upon, criticized, humiliated and misquoted as when
I became a public person.
My every action, statement, thought,
and behavior is scrutinized, placed under a magnifying glass, studied and
questioned, observed and many times later trashed.
I find that
there is no respect for the anointing in each other's lives, there is no
respect for another's opinion, there is no reasoning together as a "Body"
or for the common good of our communities, churches and even in our own
government. Everyone is out for themselves.
Even churches,
denominations and nondenominational groups are all out for themselves.
If it is not fitting their agenda, they will not have part with you.
I personally
feel angry when I see the moral standards that hold up or serves as a foundation
for our society. The more I see them continue to crumble the angrier I
get.
The moral standards
that hold our society have been taken apart, they have been dismantled
in a very slow manner by men and women without Godly principles. All with
one purpose in mind, and that purpose does not compliment the Divine purpose
of God.
Yes, our souls
and our spirits are troubled. They are troubled because the direction the
world has taken, yet when we study Hebrew text and Greek Scripture, we
know that society in the last days would increasingly grow further and
further apart from God.
This
know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men
shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers,
disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
without
natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce,
despisers of those that are good,
traitors,
heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
having a
form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2
Timothy 3: 1-5 KJV
Yes, our souls
and our spirits have been vexed by the society we are forced to deal with.
The darkening cloud of demonic infestation in our culture has migrated
into our churches affecting the walk of many, weakening the faith of
many, dismantling the authority given to us by God of many.
Yes, our souls
and our spirits are heavy as we watch thousands attend churches that are
dead in the Spirit of God.
Churches
filled with God's people that are being led astray by the millions.
Churches
filled with people that are hungry for the WORD of GOD yet are given JUNK
food on a weekly basis.
Churches
filled with people that are looking for the true meat of the WORD and yet
are being fed poisonous food that eventually will destroy them.
When we see the
next generation caused to stumble in their faith and their walk with God,
of course we will get angry. When we see the physically and spiritually
weak exploited our anger rises as well.
If we, who
are in the forefront of the battle do not take a stand against this evil,
who will?
The kingdom
of darkness is advancing and promoting its agenda all over the world.
Their Priority?
To ultimately
finish the same race that we are in with more people dying without knowing
Jesus Christ.
Their Goal?
To literally
keep people blinded so fully that they may not come to a full knowledge
and understanding of the price that was paid for them on the cross at Calvary
by Jesus Christ.
The Result?
The increase
of lawlessness and moral decay in this country and the world means that
more people will die without a Saviour.
The increase
of lawlessness and moral decay means that more people will die and be lost
forever without ever knowing fully what Jesus did for them on the cross
and the price that was paid for them.
So, when I
say that I am angry, it does not necessarily mean we have sinned. When
I say that I am angry it simply means that I care. There is a burden in
my life that does not let me be. It is placed there by the Holy Spirit
of God and none can take it away from me.
Should we be
surprise if we find ourselves angered by the steady moral decline, economic
chaos and demonic activity of this world? I for one am not surprised by
the increased anger I see in people.
In my prayers
and my devotional the burden in my heart, my concern is that, unless this
anger is not brought back to a former vigor, into a behaviors that reflects
that of Christ, we will not see our world, our towns, our churches, our
families redeemed.
Without a doubt,
anger that does not bring about redemption to our spirits and souls,
ultimately affecting the generation we live in, strips the next generation
of honors and launches them into a world of bitterness and unbelief.
The result?
A society
without reverence for God and His statues, a society that lives as if there
is no God.
What happens?
No
God?
No reverence
for Him.
No God, no
reverence for life.
No God, no
salvation.
No God, no
life.
We need to finally
understand that God desires His followers to be seasoned in His WORD. We
need to finally understand that God desires His followers although at times
angry at the world, continue to show the LOVE of Christ and Power of the
HOLY SPIRIT in their lives that the faith of the people may be raised to
new levels.
When we finally
understand that we need see our nation transformed into the image of Jesus
Christ, then we will see that this transformation starts with us, we need
to be transformed first.
If not, the
end result would be becoming like the rest of the population, like the
rest of the churches affected by the population, luke warm, ready to be
vomited by the MASTER.
I attended
a church filled with people with a hunger for God. Some of the people were
on fire for the LORD, they were hungry, they were ready to conquer the
world for Jesus.
The problem
was and still is in the leadership of this church. they were and still
are playing the game of religion. The game of denominational religion.
So many have left without ever looking back. So many have realized that
the fire in them would never be quenched by denominational doctrine.
Staying a moment
longer in the desert would spell out for them their death. Oh but how sad
for those who after years of searching have settle for the crumbs that
fall of the table.
We need to
angry at the world for rejecting Christ but we need to see why the world
hates Christ. Those who claim to represent HIM for the most part are not
doing a great job at it. Not only are they rocking the world to sleep,
they have managed to rock the church to a deep state of oblivion.
We need to
be seeking His advise to not let our hearts be troubled but to continue
to trust God and to believe in the LORD. We need to remember that in His
Father's house there are many mansions.
